From afar, the bold forms and moiré patterns take shape. As you move closer, the portrait and fine weave structure emerge — subtle shifts in colour suggesting movement, time, and connection.

While not based on a specific individual, she represents the student population and the building’s current occupants.

Interwoven ribbons of colour form a stylised weave, referencing both the textile heritage of the site and the visual language of screen-based media.

Here’s the silicone mould I made on Tuesday at ESW from the relief. Today’s plan is to create a plaster support for it, and if there’s time, pour the wax.

Yes! With the help of the amazing technicians at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop of course. This is from a series and they have all been sand cast thus far, but I think this will be ceramic shell which will be new to me
