I am also using OpenSCAD😃

Those issues were so severe that the USB to UART stopped working when directly connected to the PC. So I added RS422 modules in between. Still some UART transmission issues, but hey at least USB keeps working now.😅

It is mainly because with the first version I had so many EMI issues, that I decided to remove the pi. And the STM32 will be replaced by the nucleo in the hope that it is more resistant against EMI (not sure if that is a good idea though😅) basically removing the bells and whistles😉

Nice!

On a side note: I am not very happy with the current HW design. It is just a 2-layer design and the way things are laid out is not ideal. Already having a lot of EMC problems when turning on this thing. So I am thinking of re-designing the HW already😅

Once the inverter is in sync with the grid a the generated AC voltage needs to be a tiny bit higher than the actual grid voltage. This way current will start to flow into the grid and we would feed actual power to the grid😀

Still a long way to get there, though...😅

The goal for this project is to build an on-grid micro-inverter that is able to feed power into the grid. To reach that goal it is necessary to monitor the grid frequency and voltage. Before power can be fed into the grid the inverter needs to sync to the grid voltage.

OK, I might give them a try next time.

And how fast are they?

How much did you pay?

Even though I built both the hardware and software from scratch it is heavily based on James Fotherbys design.

I can't recommend his project documentation enough, it is pure gold!👍😀

The inverter bus voltage is generated using this setup😅
12V to 380V😎 can't wait for 2025😊

Happy new year 2025 everyone!

I can also recommend using Kicad. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it really pays off!

This setup uses excess PV energy to heat the water. The watchdog completely disables the DFR0972 if it isn’t triggered in time, ensuring that if the Pi crashes or doesn’t receive an MQTT update from my smart meter, no grid energy will be used for heating😅

Ganz ehrlich: Ich hätte mir wirklich mehr von euch erwartet, aber ihr seids halt doch nur die österreichische FDP.
