According to D. Kelekian, in Ottoman Turkish, بازرکان (bazirgân) which means “merchant”, “trader”, was also a title equivalent to “sir” given to Jews.

Finally got the chance to join ! This feels so empty for now and I don’t know where to start (should I transfer my threads from Twitter ?). Anyway I’m incredibly glad to be here to talk about Ottoman history and literature !
