Great example today of how, like data, trends are in the eye of the beholder and we can make them say anything we want them to say. During a client interview today I was confidently told about a “trend” straight out of the playbook of the patriarchy that is the opposite of the broader zeitgeist.

If foresight is about perceiving alternative possibilities, why do we say the future is a seed in the present? If foresight is defined by imagining alternatives, why use it to uphold present systems? Since our present systems have utterly failed us, why wouldn’t foresight challenge those systems?
