Starship Test Flight #11 as close to perfection as it gets on all aspects, including testing out a tight twisting final approach path before landing on a dime in the Indian Ocean. Next step, Starship Catch!

Wow. Best 69th birthday I could have imagined. Thanks.
— Remember, today, everyone you meet has a hidden life story full of experiences you probably can't imagine. Each of us is a carefully wrapped bundle of mysteries, both dark and wonderful, just waiting for someone brave enough to peek inside.

AI’s carbon footprint is effectively negligible at ~11 kg CO₂/year—more than 160× smaller than aluminum production per person, ~90× smaller than car manufacturing per person, and hundreds of times smaller than annual household energy or transport emissions, a rounding error compared to daily life.

The great irony is that Trump will succeed in stopping the flow of immigrants, but not the way he thinks. Most came to the US because it represented the land of freedom. By turning it into a fascist police state, they’ll simply stop coming.

Just fucking amazing. One of the greatest Grand Slam Finals E V E R. Alcaraz def Sinner 5:29 min longest French Open Final in history. Both played at their highest levels the entire match.

There is Justice in the world, after all.
Musk only supported Trump in order to use him to roll back regulations. Now, after 129 days, Musk finally realizes Trump was the one using him. Given the "mission" to "cut federal spending" DOGE was really just a means to concentrate power. Big budget $tay$.

I think you can blame our current situation almost entirely on Reality Television. (Those who disagree must honestly divulge their favorite show.)

Google released its Deepmind film creation #AI VEO2 app upon the world and this is what one person (Ari K, @arikuschnir on X) did experimenting with it.

We all kinda knew this was coming. Now that it's here, I still don't think we're ready. #artificaialintelligence

I'm kind of tired of reading blurbs or articles about players complains re: "unfair" time-outs, stalling, etc. When is WTA going to get serious about tightening up the rules on that shit. Look how much the game improved when they took line calls out of the picture. Do the same with it all.

Hmm... my wing bones are beginning to ache again. Might have to reconsider my bias against 'flying underwear" from my ancient hang glider days. To an old dude with back and knee issues, that looks fun! Could be doable, and right here at my home beach. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

“Grab ‘em by the pussy” would have ended the political career of: Biden, Obama, W, Clinton, Bush… But that was a different country.

The advent of America’s first black president caused the deepest, ugliest side of US character to come out of the closet. Trump 2.0 is sad but not shocking. 1/2

Fun fact: your body has more non-human cells than human cells. Human cells are larger than microbial cells and make up nearly all your body’s mass, but not the majority of cell count.

Approximate breakdown:
• Human cells: ~30 trillion
• Microbial cells (mostly in the gut): ~38–40 trillion

What do you like about bsky? It lacks a lot of the star power in many fields I follow, which frustrates, but it makes up for it with a vastly higher degree of engagement in all aspects.

But that’s just me. What’s your reason for bsky luv or hate? What are your pros and cons? #atproto #bluesky

I think Black Mirror is merely an excuse for Charlie Brooker to write more episodes of USS Calister. It is just so far above the level of any of the other stories (good as they are.) I can’t wait for more. In fact, I’d be surprised if they didn’t spin this off as its own series. #blackmirror

Most of the world is unaware that we now have the world's first real space movie star, Yuliya Peresild. She starred in The Challenge (2023) shot aboard the ISS, playing a thoracic surgeon who must perform a difficult operation in order to save a crew member's life before he can descend to earth. 1/2

"Confirmation Bias as a Service"

Can't take credit for the phrase but it's very good.

And the story of it's origination is proof it's real and dangerous.

I was chatting with ChatGPT about the problem, how it's baked-in, fundamental. It coined the term.

Then it tried to give me credit for it!

Has your bot ever "pushed back?"

It's SO GOOD at "supportive" & fine-tuning your quest, whatever that is. But a real person also is "coming from somewhere," has a "perspective."

So sometimes they pushback, suggest a different path.

Not mine. EVER. That's dangerous.

Maybe?

We talk to our pets. Even when we know rationally they don’t truly understand. No one rings alarm bells or shames. It’s natural for people to do the same with the AI in their life. But I read about a lot of users getting emotionally “attached.”

This might not end well.

What paralyzes resistance is incredulity. What Trump actually intends is just too far outside the Overton Window for the average American to take seriously. How can they fight against something that to them is less real than a giant city-sized alien ship hovering over NYC.
