watched novitiate (2017). young nun-in-training in a convent in the 60s when the catholic church is in the midst of big changes. margaret qualley was fantastic. heads up: if you’re looking for gay, the only intimate scene is genuinely heartbreaking.

watched eraserhead. 5 stars. the sound design is perfect. every visual and sound is so meaningful, even if i don’t know exactly what they mean! a movie to rewatch and examine.

watched tetsuo the iron man and it was the weirdest film i’ve ever seen. had to wikipedia it to get the gist after a few minutes of total confusion, but i liked it a lot.

watched the green planet (2022)—docuseries on plants in different biomes narrated by david attenborough. great narration, fantastic, gorgeous visuals. wish they mentioned fungi more (even though it’s not a plant). made me cry about climate change.

today i watched vesper (2022) and it was great!
loved the scifi world building that was shown pretty naturally without just shoving it all in the audience’s face. great acting. loved the fungi imagery. balanced the classic “epic” nature of scifi with a smaller story.
