I wish all my teams made me celebrate failure the way the NY Jets do.

OK, maybe not.

This doc reminds me why I miss Attack of the Show!, a much-watch back in its day. But it also had a very specific point of view, which did not feel great to experience. As a result, it’s not surprising that most of the stars of the show, including the two biggest, didn’t participate in this film.

Well that was something. The ending got away from me, but during most of the movie I laughed more than I have in recent memory. Fantastic cast and some great songs (though I felt like the more sincere songs dragged a bit.) definitely not for everyone.

A 90-minute movie musical?
February 11, 2024 at 12:28 AM
A remarkable film adaptation of an astounding book, filled with moments that are genuinely moving and disturbing, not the least of which is the climactic riot, which is one of the most striking moments in cinema history.

Will watch anything with Sam Rockwell. Howard is a treat and the cast is pretty solid, but the whole doesn’t live up to the ridiculous final 30 minutes, which is the energy I wanted for the rest of an overlong movie.

Was that really much of a twist?

Trying to figure out why all the live sketches on SNL this week felt so stilted. Did they not rehearse?

In 1978 on Taxi they were making jokes about the Post Office going broke.

Watching Taxi from the beginning. The pilot is like a stage play.

If there’s something unpleasant about Jasmine Crockett, please allow me to be ignorant of it.

I don’t got a lot of dad stereotypes (hate golf, don’t enjoy grilling, can’t watch war movies) but I don’t miss the chance to shut off a light.

At the book store tonight and happened to spot @jasondashbailey.bsky.social’s Fun City Cinema on featured display (with helping pointing from my spawn.)

Poor Things is a fascinating (if a touch bloated) piece of art. Never boring, and always visually intriguing, with great performances across the board.

I am a complete sucker for any time a move widens the aspect ratio slowly.

The Iron Claw is a well-made drama, but I don’t know that it stuck the ending. I wonder if having grown up watching the Von Erichs and knowing their story affected how the movie played with me.

Beautiful movie full of pale people. Wish it meant more to me, but it all feels so obvious, and the ending left me unsatisfied.
