Compared to South Africa, the UK hardly teaches grammar. Grammar is so amazing as it teaches a metalanguage and is a map for learning other languages. There is no excuse for this bad teaching and testing. So sad!

Interesting - but difficult to sum up ''private sector'' like that. Services are still subject to the Equality Act. Personalisation is still tricky in the context of Treating Customers Fairly and many other industry regulations. Also... what about small businesses?

I guess because 1) financial trauma often co-occurs with other kinds of trauma - being sick or disabled is not affordable these days, and 2) Money cuts deep into one's sense of worth, so much so that many have trouble thinking 'objectively' about it. THank you for the welcome!
