This is moving.

Kamala Harris feels the pain we feel. Not just from her loss, but from the trauma and abuse our country is living through.

What could have been…

I notice the loyal Trump base are beginning to see the problems caused by their beloved Orange blob. I'm rather worried that there will be a repetition of this on my side of the Atlantic in a few years time if Reform gets any sort of power

I'm furious. The combination of Labour supporters thinking Starmer is too right wing, the Conservatives wanting to attack the Labour government just because that's what they do and the press attacking Starmer Because he's the Labour leader means Starmer is toast.

I can't believe that I'm in a position of thinking the Pope might be more useful to the world than the President of America

I could be wrong here but my guess is that China has economic expertise which is superior to Trump's.

He's an offer to any Canadians who would normally travel to the US on vacation but want alternatives. I think Europe can offer almost everything the US has. Tell me what you would look for and I'll try to come up with somewhere in Europe that can provide it.

A lot has been written criticising the welfare changes announced yesterday. And reducing PIP to save money is bordering on the criminal. But, the system did need reform. To have a financial disincentive to seek work is surely wrong. The uplift for those looking for employment must be good.

Trump got to be President because people thought Democrat policies were flawed. A similar situation exists in the UK. Left wing Labour supporters are cross with decisions made by the Starmer government. This will enable a right wing leadership after the next election. It makes my blood boil.

Blue Sky can be as bad as X sometimes. The only difference being that the unpleasant and argumentative types are left wing rather than right. Earlier today I was accused of being a Eugenicist because I thought there were some people on PIP who would be better off if they were in a job.

As I suspected, the actual changes are nothing like the scaremongering stories that were in the press.

PIP not reduced or frozen, UC increased, no loss of benefits for those who try to get a job.

The NHS is improving rapidly under Labour.

You won’t hear it from the right-wing press, but the stats speak for themselves.

Well, the Domesday predictions by the right wing press were wrong about the impact of VAT on private schools. I wonder if they have overstated the impact of changes to PIP as well.

Perhaps everyone needs to read these recent posts from Warren Oates for a sensible balanced view instead of constant media speculation.
Is it wrong to suggest this article is the media's attempt to row back on the speculation they started that PIP would be cut?

To date, there is NO publicly available information this was EVER part of the government's plans.

One thing in the article really makes me think this...

Downing Street considers U-turn on cuts to benefits for disabled people
Controversial plans to cut personal independence payment (Pip) may be shelved after a tense cabinet meeting and backlash from Labour MPs

There is a lot of conjecture about the changes to benefits in the Spring statement. And, if the Labour government reduce benefits for the poor and the disabled I will join others in labelling them as Tories in disguise. But, suppose it's more carefully considered than that 1/

I think the time has come to seize US assets in Europe and Canada and spend it on support for Ukraine

Ukraine could join EU before 2030, says von der Leyen. Could the recent spat in the White House push this higher up the EU agenda?

We may look back at the 28th Feb as a watershed moment when Europe discarded the US as an ally, developed relationships with other countries (especially Canada) to move towards a democratic and fair approach to international politics.

The Labour government has created 2 million extra NHS appointments, improved employment rights and started free breakfast clubs for 180,000 of the poorest children. Yet all we hear about is farmers paying inheritance tax, the NI rise and how it reduces profits and Starmer's free glasses....

Question for anyone who understands international trade, tariffs and world economics. What would happen if China, India, Canada, Mexico and the EU agreed tariff free trade while imposing huge tariffs on the US thus isolating the USA?
