As someone who is asexual, I view their relationship as being close to ideal; it's one where they both respect each other and their boundaries while showing a deep understanding of each other. It's platonic, and distanced, but still close which is very appealing.

The situations the leads find themselves in are handled in a mature and respectful manner as the characters frequently express a willingness to understand and work out any issues they may have as a result of its mostly, but not always completely, comfy plot.

Despite sounding like something out of a comedy routine, the relationship between Yuriko and Gakurouta feels very grounded and reasonable.

The best way I could describe I Want to be a Wall is a platonic or romance-less romance. Platonomance? What I mean is, it has a similar vibe or feel when reading as many romances do, but it lacks the romantic or physical attraction between the leads to actually be one... And it's much better for it.
