After a week of lofi study beats and careful paper construction, everything has devolved. Finals are now fueled by spice bags, coffee and K-pop. Featured is my suggestion for our class shirt #4000morewords #icandothis #graduateschool #archaeology

Writing a mock funding proposal as a final assignment for material culture. I propose a reconstruction of the Must Farm weaving hut and textiles. How do I make "because it would be cool" a 4,000 word essay? #goodReason #justGraduateStudentThings #BronzeAge #MustFarmArchaeology

Recently, Blake Gutt and I had the great fortune to sit down with @eocieslik.bsky.social & record a converation for the Whiplash pod with @maxwellkuzma.bsky.social on medieval trans & genderqueer saints--and why they matter today, more than ever

4 cups of coffee, 1 cup of earl grey, a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, 1 bowl of taco soup with cheese, sour cream and chips, and a bowl of gummy candy....that's what 4k word graduate papers are made of. Now onto paper #2/3. #archaeology #academia #focusgoddamnit

Dear Spirits...give me the strength to write 3,000 words on how the #landscapearchaeology and built environments enhance and advance the power and agenda of #Clomachnoise. I can do this. #academia #archaeology

“Remembering Rita Hester and the untold thousands of other murdered trans people is a day-to-day battle with overwhelming grief, as we who live try to hang on to every name we can."
Remembering Rita Hester, Who Changed What It Means to Remember Trans Lives
Rita Hester’s 1998 murder inspired a movement, but it’s just as important to remember her life as her death.

Our work, led by @dl-arch.bsky.social and Miljana Radivojević on the Bronze Age site at Semiyarka (NE Kazakhstan) published today in @antiquity.ac.uk
Archaeologists have unearthed a Bronze Age metropolis in the heart of the Eurasian steppe: an early form of city as complex as those of contemporary, more traditionally 'urban' civilisations, showing how steppe polities were just as sophisticated.

Doesn't seem to be enough coffee in the world this morning... Working on a landscape archaeology paper about natural crossroads (glacial roads and the river shannon) shaping the sacred site of #clonmachnoise. Brewing another cup #caffeibis #academia #archaeology

This is one of the farms I was raised on in western North Carolina. Our farm was directly below theirs. I can't put into words how this shaped me as a person and how heartbroken I am that this property and my grandparents are now gone. #appalachia #greatsmokeys #home www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cjF...

I'm not a great spinner so watch this one instead. :D
Each time I have posted this video on other platforms the response has shown how useful people have found it. I teach face to face lessons in distaff spinning in the UK, but I know there are so many people, worldwide, interested in learning this technique and tutors are few. Hope this helps.

Material Culture final paper in progress! It is a funding proposal for new research on the Must Farm textiles, which are already excellently researched. I'm creating #ExperimentalArchaeology projects to examine the task space of Structure 1, aka the weaving hut #BronzeAge #Weaving #MustFarmTextiles

What a journey! I'm in the thick of things in Ireland now. I am writing my final papers for this semester, 2 out of 3 focus on textiles. Enjoy some of my favorite photos of Murphy and I doing stuff. #disabled #servicedog #experimentalarchaeologist #universitycollegedublin #ireland

We graduated! Murphy earned his Bark-elors in GoodBoy Economics and mine was in Anthropology. Now on to @ucdarchaeology.bsky.social and @experimentarchaeol.bsky.social in August. Ireland-here we come! #UWseattle #UniversityofWashington #Anthropology #Archaeology

I attended an incredible workshop by Njál's Saga Tapastry Project. This 91-meter-long collaborative work is raising money for a museum to house it. The project took 7 years and is modeled after the@bayeuxtapestry.bsky.social. I loved learning this handcraft skill that reaches back through the ages

I'll be making an effort to learn how bluesky works. Since I will be moving to Ireland soon, it will probably be the easier way to keep in touch with people. Be patient with me, I'm from the 1900s :P

I've officially finished my Junior year at #UniversityOfWashington with the help of my partners and service dog, Murphy.
I'm in awe I was admitted to one of the best schools in the country and stayed on the Dean's list. *raises coffee* Here's to some rest, then time to focus on FoxfireMassage.com

Had my 40th go around the sun. Enjoyed Friday Harbor, some incredible food, spooky forest mausoleums, and the most lovely bed and breakfast I've ever been to. Shared it all with my beautiful fiance who gifted me this very sweet drawing of us.

Still figuring out bluesky but today was a good day. The mountain was out and I got to do my first #Ashiatsu season in 5 years. This modality is the best for whole body relaxation and I feel GOOD after giving one. Pictured is my service dog, Murphy, laying under my table w/my Ashi bars above.
