Council pavement policy is opposite from Council actions
Imagine if traffic lights for vehicles were designed like this? You can't actually see if the lights are green until you're right in front of them. Presumably pedestrian crossing designed by and for DRIVERS convenience. @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @thecockburn.bsky.social

Signs saying Harrison Road closed taking up majority of pavement width on Slateford Road. This is very close to a bus stop on a fast main road.

CEC - hang your head in shame. Your project - can't blame others

Residents of Primrose Terrace, Shandon, trying to reclaim their street from Rat Runners.

Council could do something to alleviate the pressure during Harrison Road closure, but will they?

A bunch of weeds or a "wild flower meadow"?

I certainly don't see any flowers.

We're supposed to have a pavement parking ban in Scotland. @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social contractors will not enter private land to place a ticket on a vehicle. What's the point? Why do CEC give planning for this? @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @thecockburn.bsky.social @tollcross-cc-edin.bsky.social

Why do Edinburgh Council staff allow contractors to obstruct pavements all over Edinburgh? These signs are for council works at Viewforth. ROADs team no longer fit for purpose. @thecockburn.bsky.social @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social @kayleighoneill.bsky.social

If only there was an organisation in Edinburgh that could do something about pavement parking. This pavement in bruntsfield has recently been repaired - due to damage caused by vehicles parking in it. Road is 4 lanes if tarmac wide here

You can report overgrown hedges and trees via the Edinburgh council website. It is homeowners responsibility to ensure hedges are trimmed back to the property boundary.

If no action from owners, council can arrange contractors at homeowners expense.

Fountainbridge pavement has closed for nearly 10 months. Originally closed for 4 weeks, then 6, then this sign went up. Other pavement is less than 1m in places. Cycle lanes removed. What happened to CEC travel hierarchy? @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @thecockburn.bsky.social @spokes.org.uk

Interesting "scam" site

The website is actually https:// com-edinburgh.com

Then adds a bit before the address to become

https:// royalmilesuitesbythecastle.com-edinburgh.com

Be careful out there

I put it to @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social that CECs ROADs team is no longer fit for purpose. Cars #1 priority.

Canal towpath closed, divert via Lower Gilmore Place

Lower Gilmore Place BOTH pavements obstructed by ROAD signs

Can anyone remind me who championed the pavement parking ban in Edinburgh?

I'm still waiting for the first section of the tram to be completed. Coates Crescent was given a "temporary" lane of tarmac due to the bus diversion route. Still not been removed and the setts repaired. @thecockburn.bsky.social

Looks like the concerns about the safety of the toucan crossing on the West Approach Road were valid.

Barrier already mangled.

Councillors approved 30mph speed limit here about 4 years ago - but it's still not been implemented.

Ongoing issues with the Active Travel crossing on Whitehouse Loan have been solved - by simply removing it!

Hopefully to be replaced with new crossing that defaults to Active Travel on green. Often talked about but never delivered

I'm fairly sure there's a pavement somewhere under that van.

Supposedly there's a pavement parking ban in Scotland.

Dundee Street, Edinburgh.

Edinburgh councilors voted in 2020 that pedestrians are top of the transport hierarchy. So why is an Edinburgh Council sponsored project blocking Angle Park Terrace pavement, forcing wheelers on to the road? @livingstreetsedi.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social @merchistoncc.bsky.social

Plans submitted for 28 "Serviced Apartments" on the Gorgie Road gap site.

Planning approval should include a large "Section 75" funding agreement for active travel improvements in the area.

looks like the building was partially demolished between Sept 2011 and Nov 2012. I seem to remember the long side of the building collapsed .

Not sure if this is the same building

Fountainbridge pavement originally closed for 6 weeks. Then 4 months. Its still closed today. Alternative pavement does not meet councils "absolute pavement width". Cycle lane removed.

CEC staff continuing to prioritise vehicles

When is a pedestrian zone not a pedestrian zone? When it's in Edinburgh, and taxi drivers want to drop off customers at a pub half way down the zone, honking their horn as they go, to clear pedestrians out the way.
February 10, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Edinburgh councillors voted to place pedestrians at the top of the transport hierarchy. So why is The Lawnmarket being rebuilt, exactly the same way it was before? Same narrow pavements, same limited crossing points, same prioritisation of vehicles @thecockburn.bsky.social @thecockburn.bsky.social

Pavement Parking Ban aye?
