British chemist and cosmonaut Helen Sharman was born #OnThisDay in 1963. She became the first woman to visit the Mir space station in May 1991. Sharman wore this Sokol-KV-2 suit during the space flight on board the SOYUZ-TM-12 and MIR spacecraft. Science Museum collection. #womenshistory
