"Pocket rescission" ?
Russ Vought: "It is very possible that we might use pocket rescissions as one of our executive tools ... nothing is taken off the table for us to be able to deal with the deficits that we have."

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas.

So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget?

The answer is: you.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Not a hard call, and there haven't been nearly enough such calls to clean up the profession.

Mystified as to why Poilievre thinks the Liberals need to publish a budget right now, days after Carney became PM and right at the start of critical trade war negotiations that are likely to make any budget out of date day one. Also, why provide that intel to US negotiators? Shallower than a puddle.

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”
I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff
