did NaNoWriMo for twenty years. wrote dozens of drafts in addition to that. this happens every single time and for some reason, I'm always surprised when it does.

I believe this is called despair of the middle. The soggy middle. The moment where I stare at my file and go "do I actually want to keep going with this or just delete it all?" and then two hours later, keep going anyway.
