I have never seen the OVA though I do know it looks gorgeous (animated by good old studio madhouse) but I have seen another version that came out in the 2000s but that retells parts off the ova but also expands into 26 episodes. Second opening goes hard parts of it inspired Zack Snyder man of Steel.

Funny enough the guy who wrote BIG O story also wrote these two anime The first is an adaptation of a stealth sequal to go nagi Devilman but is basically “she hulk meets unbreakable” and the other is an ova “space Wonder Woman but she is also Steve Trevor”.
