Wharton is a superb passer of the ball, range and vision wise, the better of the two, but is athletically challenged and more suited to a deep block, quick transition game, Anderson is more rounded (can pass, move with the ball, press resistant and athletic). Anderson for me.

That, and Bentancur being a carthorse.
January 13, 2026 at 1:53 PM
I don’t particularly want us to sign Gallagher, but he is an incremental upgrade on Bentancur, Gay, Bergval and Sarr. Means we could sell at least 3 of those and buy someone who can pass and a 6 who is press resistant and can break lines (pass/move).

Ibrahim Sangare (Forest). Mamadou Sangare (Lens). Jaoui Cissé (Lille).

You had less able/more positive in Ange, who also won a trophy. You wanted him sacked. FWIW I don’t think sacking him was wrong but never wanted Frank. It was like jumping out of the frying pan into a bowl of muesli. Ardiles/Gerry Francis. The issue is this deeply flawed squad and recruitment.

In your opinion, what is Gray good at windy? Where, positionally, do you see his future. Because I’m just not seeing it.
January 10, 2026 at 9:52 PM
I’d like to see a 433, Bergval R8, Simons LF, RKM RF, but I’m positive your 4231 (left selection) will be correct.
January 7, 2026 at 6:36 PM
Even in the first half, their ppda was better than ours.
January 5, 2026 at 8:24 PM
Both hugely overrated. Cannot believe the hype around Gray at all. What is he actually great at? Bergval as an 8 in a cm3 is ok, but he can’t pass and is a headless chicken without the ball. They both should be put on loan getting some of experience.
January 5, 2026 at 8:20 PM
Jesus Christ, he’s only playing Gray as a fucking 10 isn’t he
January 1, 2026 at 8:12 PM
What?
December 28, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Would like that to be 433/6+2x8’s. Bit fear it will be the predictable 4231/442 with the non passing Bergval as the 10.
December 28, 2025 at 4:23 PM
It’s looking more like a pretty orthodox 442 to me. Bergval LM

I’d say insanity is watching spurs lose games playing badly for months on end, for two coaches with totally different philosophies, and keep thinking these players are great.
December 17, 2025 at 12:46 PM
I really think you need to be more dispassionate when rating Spurs players. If this team wore a West Ham kit you’d not think so highly of it.
December 16, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Seriously, we haven’t. And you overrate the cb’s. VDV is super quick but he’s not a great 1v1 or box defender. Romero is a great passer, but charges about like tw*t half the time and also isn’t great 1v1/box defender. And the fb’s are all pretty poor defensively. Udogie’s never fit.
December 16, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Why should we be doing better?we have meh/flawed defenders and attackers and no midfield. And Ange had it even worse last season. At least there was offensive upside with his flawed methodology.
December 16, 2025 at 4:23 PM
And I’m not defending Frank either, didn’t want him, never watched Brentford and saw “cohesion” or clear ethos.
December 16, 2025 at 4:20 PM
In some ways you could say Frank being an expert at coaching meh footballers makes him a good fit for this team, my issue is what would we look like under Frank, even with good footballers? And what logic was used hiring Frank anyway. His CV is hardly stellar, in results or performances.
December 16, 2025 at 3:05 PM
@windycoys.bsky.social it’s both. This squad hasn’t been fit for purpose for a while. It does not have a functioning midfield. The recruitment has been catastrophically bad for the last 8-9 years. Glaring deficiencies not addressed year on year on year, dross like Bentancur given new contracts?
December 16, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Even bigger irony is Spurs had two of the best recruitment guys (Edwards/Hughes now Liverpool) in football, but Harry Redknapp had them scouring the Racing Post for his daily Yankee instead.

Can you explain this metric, thanks.
December 15, 2025 at 6:36 PM
I think Palhinha was brought on because he was bringing Bergval on and keeping Simons on, so wanted Palhinha to cover that more offensive set up, but Davies was f’ing nuts.
