1/2 No. By calling it back to the first offence, the Szoboszlai red card offence, he renders the Haaland foul null. Play effectively stops with the Szoz foul. It’s just that he has to mention the Haaland foul on mic, because it means he has to disallow the goal, but nice he does that,

But that’s the point of having a DOF/head coach system. You identify the areas of weakness together, but the DOF chooses the player for the club not the head coach.

Defenders who are great at nuts and bolts defending, midfielders who aren’t press resistant or able to pass and attackers who struggle to create quality or finish it.

I never wanted Frank, the hype some of you engaged in was ludicrous. Even in the championship his football was reactive and pragmatic. But there is no point sacking him now unless we are employing an elite coach, and upping our recruitment game. Fast. This squad is meh at best.

This squad is deeply flawed, inexperienced players, deeply flawed players, positional deficiencies. There are not even any elite Kane’s, Son’s, Eriksen’s to paper over cracks. It’s all inexperience and flaws wherever you look. And injuries to boot. Eg poor squad depth.

We absolutely had that with Ange. And everybody hated the inherent risk that went with that. This squad is just not individually good enough or smart enough to combine attacking risk with defensive solidity. And even then, that takes an exceptional coach as well as quality/smart players.

This is catastrophic. Although, I’m spotting a new gap opening up however for the Statsbomb guys. I’ve always said to James they should add a cheapish “help me win my argument on the internet” data subscription service to their offerings.

Wharton is a superb passer of the ball, range and vision wise, the better of the two, but is athletically challenged and more suited to a deep block, quick transition game, Anderson is more rounded (can pass, move with the ball, press resistant and athletic). Anderson for me.

I don’t particularly want us to sign Gallagher, but he is an incremental upgrade on Bentancur, Gay, Bergval and Sarr. Means we could sell at least 3 of those and buy someone who can pass and a 6 who is press resistant and can break lines (pass/move).

Both hugely overrated. Cannot believe the hype around Gray at all. What is he actually great at? Bergval as an 8 in a cm3 is ok, but he can’t pass and is a headless chicken without the ball. They both should be put on loan getting some of experience.
