I wonder if it has something to do with the weird rules around dragon ball games not being able to use anything from the manga until its adapted into anime. Since there wasn't a story attached to the naruto and goku outfit.

they cost low enough red rings that you can get them both with a few days of playing. Especially, if you haven't spent the giveaway.

Hoo they’ll also be giving more slots then. I don’t really have the slots to spar for experimenting.

Yeah weirdly I don’t even think people mod them in either. People can model god of destruction scooby doo, but apparently giving vegeta an eyepatch and horns is too much.

Heck I’d take a game adaptation. There’s even small hints of where future strawhats and onepiece characters would be in that universe. Vegetas crew is very beast pirates coded.

I do see the vision. But I’ve also seen the cracks in sakurais scope. Little things that I feel would get in the way of him handling a sonic game in a way that would feel faithful. But if he had you or someone else from IDW there to help with story, then yeah, 100% make it happen.

I mean I CAN see things working out and us getting a kid icarus level love letter that finds a way to make the story intergrate into the gameplay and gives great nods to the games history, OR a game that has an insane roster that jumps through all the legal loopholes sega hasn’t been willing to try

Yeah? All the way through. One of the few non-sonic games I’ve played from start to finish. Half my wariness comes from that.
I’m not saying it’s impossible he’d make a great sonic game.
I just think smash ultimate showed how flawed his methods can be if applied to the wrong idea.

Yeah? All the way through. One of the few non-sonic games I’ve played from start to finish. Half my wariness comes from that.

Still dunno. This is the same guy who veiws cutscenes & story as a reward and not like… an inherent part of the medium
I could see him trying to do a “everyone is here” for sonic, but the problem with that is if he’d even clock that “everyone“ for this fandom includes characters outside the games.

Considering the rep for sonic in smash… don’t think it’d be all that good actually. Sakurai’s best when he knows the brand he’s working with. He doesn’t appear to know sonic all that much.

most game villains not named eggman are dead, even shadow and emerl died at the end of the game they were an antagonist before coming back later. the deadly six are basically the only other villains who they haven’t even implied died

If the villain was approved would you not be allowed to pitch a different story with them? It was my understanding that sega has a pretty specific approval process that also adds any character they approve into the pool of characters they can use for marketing, so you’d have a foot in the door still

When mainline sticks is mentioned in a videogame 10 years after appearing in a 4 panel manga barely anyone saw and still hasn't been properly introduced in any game or comic, there's something wrong with SEGAS priorities for these characters.

It's just a little frustrating when before, Sega wasn't this shy about reminding people that Sonic isn't a game franchise, its a multimedia franchise. Since 1992 they've grabbed characters like charmy and amy from the mangas, marketed sally at sega parks, & included archie comics in gems collection.

For me, atleast, its not frustrating that they call this canon or that non-canon, its frustrating to me that they will reference different canon characters and moments, but DO anything with those canon things. They've been tiptoeing around IDW comics for 3 years since hard confirming the canon.
