I know the way on the left is unconventional, but why, specifically, is it discouraged? Also, I saw zero seat logs here in Scotland, but I do on occasion back in the states. Maybe this should be standard signage in the US. At least in bars, arenas, and stadiums.

Visited Bon's statue in Kirriemuir. The show in Edinburgh was the main reason for coming, but this was a pretty cool bonus.
