Annoying smartarse
Some of his wackier ideas were presented in more deniable ways on newsstands a decade ago

There’s no way out of this that doesn’t include these people admitting they were wrong and that in their strident refusal to accept they were wrong, they have fucked it into orbit around Neptune. There is no other way.

I mean, look. What paved the way for the way for the rise of the fascist right? I’m afraid it was professional Sensible Moderates screaming in idiot terror at the public about the thousand nations of transgender Bolshevik student totalitarians marching upon the Shire, to deprave their Hobbit-holes.

If you’re discussing the rise of a global fascist movement that is now strongly exerting itself domestically and you’re *still* wittering about the speech tyranny of the kids and the baleful influence of Stonewall, then that’s pretty wacky, folks! It looks unserious and self-indulgent at very best!

Remembrance Day aside, of course. And it seems clear there’s a lot of American wingnut money pouring in. But yes, we were like this ages ago.

Our current fucked state has to be something unrelated to themselves and their conduct, so it always has to be a mysterious force of nature or malign action by outsiders, however difficult it may be to descry

To be fair, I can imagine the entire US press pretending to be enraged and terrified because e.g. the police had recommended banning fascist Israeli football hooligans *now*, in 2025. But our awful press would’ve gladly gone along with that obvious bullshit at any point in the last five years.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Almost everyone knew that was utter bollocks, just drivel. And they went along with it anyway.

Example: Rule Britannia being “banned at the Proms” in 2020, when everyone talking about it fully understood there was no choral signing at all for Covid restrictions. That didn’t prevent two weeks of wild terror that patriotism had been proscribed, to avoid offending non-white people.

Because we decided some time in 2018/19: a certain type of person could now do and say whatever they want, behave as horrifically as they like with no accountability, and if anyone is trying to push the toothpaste back into the tube it isn’t working, because more important people like it this way.

Where is the resistance to this stuff, within the system? I would guess “some well meaning but harassed and easily intimidated civil servants”, at best. Because it sure as hell won’t come from government.
November 11, 2025 at 6:44 AM
Seems to me that in a system competent enough to conceal the malice of its agents, these generals would’ve been taken aside for chats and sternly advised to shut the fuck up a long time ago. I suspect nobody thinks that’s necessary any more, and more likely they all approve.

Again: do you notice how you can’t lift a rock near a British institution, without a roaring geyser of crime, or corruption, or murder, or official coverups, workplace bullying and/or sexual abuse leaping a hundred feet into the air? Seems pretty bad

Also parliament and its members, given the government very clearly covered this up for years until the press had hounded the peacenik opposition leader out of office, then stampeded through a war crimes impunity bill ASAP with the total willing complicity of the main opposition party.
