Annoying smartarse
It’s not looking great

This week, Kiran thinks the right wing press’s noses are out of joint because they repeated rubbish they’d been told by the Treasury. I have no idea whether that’s true, but I note a consistent theme of the era is lobby journos enraged because the government of the day made monkeys of them again.

The rule with government ministers is: you can tell what type of fox each one is, by looking at which henhouse it has been asked to guard.

Different analyses but the conclusions are similar, are they not

For non-Brits: this is the former anti-corruption minister, now resigned.

His actual onscreen response was that he was glad people were protesting because the suffering people of Iraq couldn’t. This was said to be a pretty crushing response that showed the Prime Minister’s determination to get the job done, a thing that should also strike you as quite familiar.

As I was just saying. Very easy to imagine Kemi in B&Q, asking the guy behind the counter for a tin of elbow grease and a long weight.

Normally risk-averse media outlets appear to have been confident enough in these allegations that they have published them, a thing that - I would say this very confidently - they would not do, if they thought there was any serious doubt over their veracity.
December 1, 2025 at 12:24 PM
I agree, but: if the main reason you are in power now is that the national press kicked seventeen shades of shit out of all your internal and external opponents and repeated every word of the drivel and horseshit you sent them as God’s honest truth, then this is just too bad.
December 1, 2025 at 11:31 AM
This doesn’t even pass the laugh test, let alone the smell one. If you’re taken in by this, then you’re the type of person whose work colleagues regularly sends you to the shop for a tin of tartan paint and a long stand.

A real sharp difference in the reaction when you lie to people who actually matter, isn’t there
December 1, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Unusually blunt way of saying it
December 1, 2025 at 10:57 AM
It worked just fine for them until they did something the Times didn’t like.
December 1, 2025 at 10:46 AM
Bear in mind: this isn’t happening because the great bullshit machine has been switched from “Suck” to “Blow”, like it was with both Johnson and Sunak. This is what happens when it’s just *turned off*, and the parties are left to find their natural level of organic support.
December 1, 2025 at 9:14 AM
Unionists support in Scotland tends to cluster around the unionist party that’s perceived to be doing best at the time. The same dynamic that gave Labour 37 Scottish MPs is going to see these people shoved straight into the bin.

You know who’s going to get as much coverage and attention as they want? Shit-stirrers and wreckers. Those people will have a red phone hotline, whenever they want it, which will be all the time.

If these clowns think the kids are choking to get killed in a war demanded by people who openly hate their guts and say so, then I feel like they might be disappointed.
November 30, 2025 at 11:55 PM
Sure, but all this is pretty academic if Sir Keir and Rachel Reeves are getting launched out of office next year, which they are.
November 30, 2025 at 10:46 AM
That’s a long way of saying “The British press routinely collaborates with then imposes very obvious bullshit artists scammers on the public, while pretending they are very legit and organically popular”.
November 30, 2025 at 10:34 AM
This is correct: there is no screeching terror campaign coming here to annihilate Farage’s posh National Front. If it comes to a choice between beating back Reform or e.g. the Greens, then that is not going to be a choice at all for people who actually matter in British public life.
November 30, 2025 at 10:24 AM
A beautiful opportunity here for everyone who has ever delivered a hectoring, stentorian lecture on the non-negotiable obligation to support nations that are illegally attacked by belligerent rogue states. March right out there now and do it all just the same as last time.

This is a joke, referencing this tweet.

This is a joke referencing a tweet from 2019. I appreciate the reference is obscure.
November 29, 2025 at 2:03 PM
The IDF blew the head off a guy in the street who had been talking to an ITV camera crew, the moment they stopped filming, very obviously just as a fuck you. Calling for them to investigate themselves is just saying Oh no, this looks bad, then doing nothing.
November 29, 2025 at 1:17 PM
Again, the business of the British press is recruiting an unending series of toxic bigots and very right wing cranks to help kick fuck out of people the lads despise and want to harm.
