My greatest resentment is towards his supporters. Sure, the world has bad people, but who chooses to elevate them?

Completely agree with your assessment. Vance has no charisma to carry the cult followers, and seems genuinely unpleasant to everyone else. Plus he's demonstrated a ready ability to change fealty.
So many republicans would never vote democratic as an article of faith, so they just won't vote.
