Hello, happy Friday.

Here is an aerial image of the Sangre de Cristo Range snapped a few Novembers ago. Doubtful it has much snow on it currently.

Not spooky but some blacks and vivid orange / red for your Oct. 31 consideration.

A sunrise over the Denver skyline, October 2017.

It was chilly yesterday so I drove to a trail that gets sun and is usually less windy than my home trails.

Score. My time suffered because I was constantly taking photos of the pretty autumn colors.

Sure, gold aspens blanketing a rugged peak are great. But don’t sleep on autumn in the foothills.

Parting view from an cancelled climb in the Sangre de Cristo Range. Started too late to have enough time to navigate through the snow that was piled DEEP in places.

When the aurora made an appearance at the low latitudes of Colorado May of 2024, I scrambled to get some photos.

Fairly mediocre, to be honest! But it made me happy to photograph them finally after seeing them for many winters living in the far north.

After climbing 3000 feet up a steep couloir, I decided to sit for a moment and take in the scenery.

(I’ve posted this before, but it works for the BSAS theme of #Relax )

iPhone photo from a late May climb in the Elk range a few years back.

It’s a little overcooked, tbh.

Climbed up this big stack of rocks over the weekend. Great views. Mediocre light and a bit early for the spectacle of autumn colors.

The Maroon Bells dressed in their autumn best.

They don’t call it colorful Colorado for nothing! Love the autumn magic in the high Rockies.

“Downburst”

The problem with having such a nice view from my deck is I’m not compelled to go chase scenic photos as much.

I have a small child. I’m pretty thrilled to stay home and watch the storms roll in.

These photos are from a summer snow on September 8, 2020. Snapped on the trails near my home just before sunset. It was 80°F only a two days before.

September snows, once common on Colorado’s Front Range, are now extremely rare.
