Mobility aids get exemptions from VAT when disabled people buy them. I assume that is the reason Motability cars had tax exemptions?

To be honest, I’m not comfortable for everything to be attached to one form of ID. For a start, that means fraud with that ID would have control over every part of your life, not just effecting one element

People usually receive a national insurance number (NIN) just before their 16th birthday if entitled to work in UK. I received an actual card years ago but understand it’s only a letter with the number on now

I’m not opposed to having a form of ID but think it hasn’t been thought out properly. I don’t think the new system will work any better than NIN for the use intended. I’m also unhappy about dubious companies making a huge amount of money from taxpayers. Why not improve NIN?

I lived in Sweden for a time, you were given a personnummer there. You had to give it to open a bank account or even rent a DVD (it was a long time ago 😂) it wasn’t even a photo card but connected to everything
