Seokjin swallowed thickly, wetted his lips. The leopard’s tail swished in the darkness, sweeping the ground and curling around its paws. And then the beast started to purr. It sounded so much as if a heavy snorer had taken refuge to sleep in a working sawmill that Seokjin found himself smiling with endearment. “Hi, kitty,” he cooed despite the strangeness of the situation. And even stranger, it seemed that the animal had liked it. Perhaps it was domesticated. “Was it your master who saved me? Will they return soon?” Seokjin asked; the leopard couldn’t answer, but seemed to be listening, still in its place. “Did they ask you to watch over me in the meantime?” At that, the leopard reached out a paw, and instinctively Seokjin recoiled, pulling the blanket closer as if it could protect him; he only relaxed when he saw that it had placed it on the herbal mush on the ground, and blushed with embarrassment, though he certainly couldn’t be blamed for his reaction. The animal cocked its head and looked at him expectantly, and when Seokjin blinked in confusion, glared at the bite on his shoulder. “It’s not healed, I know. But what do you expect me to do? I can’t apply a dirty compr— goodness!” he blurted out without finishing his sentence as he saw the leopard get up, turn around and disappear quickly into the shadows. It came back shortly after, pushing a wooden bowl containing more herbs with its snout until it slammed into Seokjin’s side. Then it slammed its butt down again and waited.

“If you really want to move your feet, go dancing,” Seokjin hisses as Jeongguk surreptitiously puts his shoe back on, nodding toward the deck where some couples have taken to the dance floor. “Good idea. Let’s dance,” Jeongguk agrees, standing up. But instead of going alone, he grabs Seokjin by the hand, and before he knows it, the elder finds himself being led towards the dance floor. “Jeongguk, wait! I can’t dance!” Seokjin whispers-yells as he baulks, trying in vain to free himself. “It doesn’t matter,” Jeongguk replies sweetly, stopping and making Seokjin twirl so that the other ends up in his arms, one hand on Jeongguk’s shoulder and the other captured between the younger’s fingers. “We can just sway.” And sway they do to the soft music that spreads across the deck, rooted to the spot, their faces so close that a trifle would make them collide, their gazes locked. Jeongguk smells of wine and rosemary, and his entire being radiates warmth, from the skin under his shirt so smooth against Seokjin’s palm it almost seems nonexistent, to the chocolate-brown eyes that betray his love, and only a very thin thread of coyness prevents Seokjin from closing the distance between them and kissing him in front of everyone.

After watching Sisi season 4, I've been thinking of a historical #jinkook au where Seokjin's father loses their family mansion in a bet with their neighbour Jeon Jeongguk, who agrees to give it back only if Seokjin wins a horse race against him, riding a newly captured wild horse.

“What time is it?” he asks in a slurred voice, stretching slowly, sprawling like a lazy cat so much that he reaches the spot where Jeongguk was lying by Seokjin’s side, still radiating the other’s residual body warmth. He is quick to withdraw his hand, but not before basking in it a second too long. “It’s 8 AM. The strike is over,” Jeongguk announces in the meantime, shuffling out of bed and stretching out properly. “We should get moving.” The sound of bare feet shuffling on the floor, then a click followed by the rustling of a bag. “Taehyung already brought our clothes back from the dry cleaner.” “Good,” Seokjin mumbles, sitting up and scratching his back while unable to contain a yawn. It comes out not only loudly, but from gaping jaws worthy of a hippopotamus, and he doesn’t dare meet Jeongguk’s gaze as he feels his neck redden with embarrassment. At least Seokjin’s teeth are perfect. “Well, that was something,” Jeongguk finally comments with an amused little laugh.
