WIP. My lines are never straight. Instead of busting out the ruler, I embrace it. One of my fave things to do when viewing art, especially masterpieces, is getting up close to see the human element. An uneven brushstroke, a crooked line. It makes the work and artist all the more real.

WIP. My lines are never straight. Instead of busting out the ruler, I embrace it. One of my fave things to do when viewing art, especially masterpieces, is getting up close to see the human element. An uneven brushstroke, a crooked line. It makes the work and artist all the more real.

As promised, WIP (and my humble work station). I use a water-soluble graphite pencil to sketch.
I like the water-soluble because it washes away when I begin to apply paint, but I don’t like it because it can discolor the paint. Any suggestions?

Another tree I made. I usually carefully paint each individual leaf with several layers, but I wanted to try something different with this one. Again, this one didn’t turn out as I imagined, but it did grow on me pretty quickly. I love the drippy gold. #art
