The old argument. Wine is good because the vines are old etc. A great site produces good fruit year in, year out but that doesn't mean it's always great, rather than consistently good. I've seen plenty of clapped out old vineyards that well, never made the grade. Darwin abides!

They used to keep "marker wines" in the stacks- the base wine of the tirage but they were invariably rooted.

Still going, just enough pressure (gas)to keep it balanced at 30g/l sugar. Very soft and mature, as in not "still got some fruit".
