Breaks as in no way to close the video without killing the app? I've been wondering if that's happening to everyone or just me
November 18, 2025 at 7:14 PM
This is why I disable notifications entirely for most apps, but even the in-app count of unread notifications that usually end up being a new category to disable are annoying :(

They say socializing gets easier with practice, but I don't think that will make you an extrovert. If you ever do find a way please let me know.

Calling them out will probably accomplish nothing positive, but if I just block/mute they'll never know why and I'll never know if they change. I think you're right, it's just a frustrating situation.

You don't have to be paying a subscription for your use of a website to generate revenue for its owners. Even pennies in support of anti-trans propaganda (just one example of that hateful agenda) feels like a betrayal of people I care about.

I'm one of those tops.

Very true. I wasn't familiar with your work, don't remember how this crossed my feed, but I like what I see so far!

Ok *unzip*

Why not make it then? It's easier than ever with free game engines and abundant learning resources. I could even help you get started if you just need some guidance. (Too busy with my own game to volunteer more than that.)

Although in retrospect, the partitioning for the dual boot would probably not be easy for anyone without prior experience.
November 15, 2025 at 12:28 AM
I just set up a dual boot with Pop!_OS (a Linux distro) on my Nvidia gaming PC from scratch in about 30 minutes, and my biggest stumbling block was the default source for installing Steam from the "Pop!_Shop" didn't work so I had to pick the Flatpak version instead.
November 15, 2025 at 12:27 AM
That's a really good point, I basically already have the Steam Machine I'm wishing for if I just put Linux on my gaming PC. Aside from the fact they'd probably make it quieter and better optimized than my amateur DIY build.
November 14, 2025 at 11:13 PM
I did figure it out, but it required multiple workarounds.
November 14, 2025 at 9:03 AM
Also I've just been reminded that I have to troubleshoot stuff on Windows just as much as I do on Linux. I went back to my gaming PC to play something that wasn't running well on the Deck and it's just crashing on startup, consistently. I did not miss Windows at all.
November 14, 2025 at 8:48 AM
What I really want is the ability to install a better graphics card. Based on what they've said so far, the Steam Machine will not even come close to the performance of my middle-tier and not-that-new gaming PC. If I could just put the GPU I already have in it, I'd be sold instantly.

The biggest obstacle to enjoying more games on Steam Deck is performance, not compatibility. Blue Prince, for example, is playable but not smooth at 1080p. I'm using a large monitor most of the time, so I wish it could handle higher resolutions. The Steam Machine is tempting, but...
November 14, 2025 at 8:35 AM
It's worth noting that all this compatibility work to get Steam games working also works for games from other stores. Heroic Launcher makes it reasonably easy to install games from your GOG, Epic, and/or Amazon libraries and run them through Wine. However, there are some rough edges.
November 14, 2025 at 8:31 AM
I'm mostly running it in desktop mode, and after some initial setup I barely notice that I'm not using Windows or a Mac. My browser and most of the apps I use run natively on Linux, though some have quirks and I do run into some weirdly broken things on occasion.
November 14, 2025 at 8:23 AM
Eh, the more people who are pissed off at these companies, the better. It's probably better for the complaints to be coming from people who were actually affected by it, so I support them being upset and loud about it.
November 14, 2025 at 6:03 AM
Dunno what happened today, but I bought one long ago and it was practically useless. It didn't map the room, it seemed to be moving completely at random and never left one small area where it bumped into the same wall over and over.
