Frontend engineer at proton.me and writing stuff on my blog flavienbonvin.com
I joined @proton.me for about 8 months now and, when I joined, I was given a US laptop. I was lost at first, since we have a different layout in Switzerland.

After a few days, I adapted, and can now say that the US ANSI keyboard is the best for developers. More info in the article (or in 🧵)
What Makes the US ANSI Keyboard Is the Best Layout for Developers ?

The current Bluesky problem has made me aware of the general misunderstandings surrounding web development.

Furthermore, the size of the team is being is being blown out of proportion, when it's made up of just a handful of people.

@rojoynegro.org a fix that blocks slurs was merged

Besides, @dholms.xyz mentioned that the team is composed of 2 devs. Can explain the time it took to come with a fix and why it wasn’t done earlier

I just learned about the current situation and the understandable anger of users.

Are those steps what is asked, or is something missing?

1. Have a better block list when creating users name.
2. Ban the accounts that are spreading hate (username or content)
3. Public statement and apologize

I just tested Next.js server actions, and I'm impress by how easy (and good-looking) it is to have the frontend and backend code in the same place.

Separation could be done by extracting the server action to another file. But having all the code in the same project (without API) is 💯

People at work are quite eager to get a Bluesky invite. We now have a Confluence page with a waitlist.

Paul, can you let @proton.me employees join. They deserve the invite!

Are your boys who get caught up in sigma grindset and assholes like Andrew Tate the equivalent of parents who become Facebook conspiracists?

What I like about Zuck is that he understood that nobody liked him and decided to be a strange robot ghost that appears from time to time to freak us out. Musk has a lot to learn about him

How is Reddit doing since Apollo went dark on the 1st of July? I left Reddit at that time and I have no clue if usage has dropped or if things are as before

Went for a walk today, saw those charming cows and the beautiful lake Geneva from my home town Lausanne 🥹😍

No need to install a dependency or rely on shitty code when needing a UUID

I’m a bit confused with custom feed. Do I need to post in them or are post automatically picked as belonging to a feed ?

Besides are skeets from a custom feed appearing in the “following” or “popular with friends” feed ?

I just opened Twitter, you can't make this shit up.

Never saw this user, never discussed AI, yet I still see a (maybe promoted) tweet about AI and how to use it properly with a thread.

Of course, it has a link to a podcast called Secret Leaders 🤮🤮🤮

Me since last Friday when I unlock my phone, click the Apollo app only to see that it has been shut down

I hope Elon Musk gets sacked from all his companies and ends up in the desert starting a survival YouTube channel.

And that he fails miserably in his attempt.

Here we are people! Apollo doesn’t launch anymore, it’s the end

As a developer, I know how to divide a large problem into smaller, bite-size things that are both more digest and less complex.

This is something I completely forgot when working on a side project, I try to learn everything at once, feel overwhelm and give up until next time.

We just released an (amazing) password manager which is free and available for all user.

I highly recommend giving it a try if you don't have a password manager or if you're still using LastPass!

It also integrates aliases that allow you to hide your email from third party

Normally, I'm part of the silent majority who don't make too much noise. Bluesky is strange for me, because you have to exchange.
June 23, 2023 at 9:34 AM
Reddit doesn't seem to backtrack on the API change. I hope that Bluesky can replace it.

Any recommendation for web dev / react dev accounts to follow?
