Obsessive writer, "Mimi" of seven, and darned good whole-foods cook. I enjoy coupling my interest in child-nurturing and mental health with politics. In a former life, I was a newspaper journalist and remedial reading teacher.
As a former features writer for a small newspaper (which never used to pay on time but does now because they were bought out by Gannett!), I think we need more stories like this - community voices in conversation - that reveal what it's like to live under siege in America.

This story reaches into the heart of America's ICE invasion, revealing the often traumatic experiences of a group of neighbors in a small town in Minnesota.

I thought I heard some boos, watching the opening ceremony last night. Or maybe they were just in my brain.

Yarvin thinks democracy is dead. What he wants is a single, unitary leader who can funnel money into projects started by people like him, with no conscience, compassion, or clue about what it means to be human. He should leave.

Gosh, Trump is mentioned in the Epstein files more times than Jesus is mentioned in the Bible - only about 1,000 times.

It might he harder. But how about a local CSA - Community Supported Agriculture? CSAs offer a a relationship between farmers and community members. They're a good way to get fresh food in season. And people can often sign up to do work instead of paying for their share. www.localharvest.org/csa/

Well, I think I have. My answer was starting a food co-op. We had 50 families benefitting from healthy foods delivered from a whole-foods warehouse once a month - by a semi-truck. It was wonderful! It brought community members together.

I'd say that most everyone in the current administration is playing out their childhood trauma in the public sphere. They need someone to save them from their childhood neglect and abuse. Most of all, from their daddy wounds.

No. I never bought that kind of food. And we were very low- income.

Big Oil doesn't seem to care that Mississippians will pay the health costs of an increasing number of asthma and cancer patients due to Venezuelan oil being processed at Miss. refineries. This is due to the amount of methane released into the air being "roughly six times above the world average."
Why boosting production of Venezuela's 'very dense, very sloppy' oil could harm the environment
Environmental experts warn that U.S. plans under President Donald Trump to restart and control Venezuelan oil exports could intensify pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and ecological damage in a cou...

I'm not happy that SNAP has been cut. But frankly, I've never found junk food to be cheaper than whole foods, such as beans, rice, fresh green beans, carrots, etc. And convenience foods are also expensive. To me, my kids' health was too important to waste money on junk - except for special treats.

Forget about TrumpRx. It's got to be another scam. Why not tout healthy meals, fresh air and exercise - like Jack LaLanne?

Even after Brown vs. the Board of Education abolished school segregation, Black children were still kept out of all-white schools in the South. On Nov. 14, 1960, four federal marshals drove Ruby Bridges five blocks to her new school and escorted her inside. We need federal marshals to do their job!

When one of my adult children and his wife started adoption proceedings, they had social workers coming to inspect their home, and all kinds of hoops to jump through. That was just for one child. What about the kids at the Dilley facility? Who cares about their quality of life?
