NEMATODE MONDAY: Sunn hemp is used for fiber production and as a green manure. It suppresses weeds, soil erosion & nematode populations, mostly sedentary endoparasites like root-knot nematodes. It is a poor host, but also produces toxic compounds against several nematode species #Nematode #Hemp 🧪

NEMATODE MONDAY: Some nice galling from southern Root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) on Cucurbit. It’s host range is estimated at over 3,000 plant species. It causes large irregular shaped galls or swellings on infected roots disrupting root function #Nematode #PlantPathology #PlantParasite 🧪

🌏 Happy #WorldSoilDay! 💡 #Nematodes help break down organic matter & recycle nutrients, making them more accessible to plants, acting as natural pest controllers & keeping pathogens in check. By maintaining a balanced soil ecosystem, they help promote thriving plants! 🌿 www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/15...
