I have never been a member of parliament.
#QuiteInteresting collectors rabbithole taking a look at English #pyrex glassware, inherited from my mother-in-law. It's not a fruit-bowl, but a heat proof serving dish as it fits in a metal frame for a candle.

JAJ existed 1923-1973, with #opaline made in the 1960s.

Ebay? Just £10!

#MAGA definition

SLAVERY: As defined by our leader #Trump "A hurty word used by the wokerati to complain about white Republican supremacy in our glorious history of white christian #USA."

I have 2 large biscuit tins with around 2 kilos of old coins. These are the coins my father collected in the 1970s as a hobby. A lot of old pennies and threepence pieces taken out of general circulation.

This 1922 half crown is interesting, but they only sell for £4. Not worth the hassle to sell!

I've been moving to a new (refurbished) mobile phone. It's a drag!

#GoogleWallet doesn't transfer credit card!
#Railcard needs new digital code
#WhatsApp lost a week of messages
#Signal restarts blank!
#Nectarcard needs registering
... etc.

These should *all* be part of a smart move process!

I've replaced my Samsung S20 with a #secondhand #S23 Ultra. The image stabilizer and zoom are astonishingly good.

Here's two photos from a bus stop on Waterloo Bridge of the London Eye. Honestly it's like carrying a telescope in your pocket!

I've been very reliant on a mobile connection this month, but still only hit 7GB out of 10GB allowance.

I paid £60 for a year of unlimited calls, texts and 10GB/month. I'm always shocked to find out students and friends are paying 10x that because they were conned by a "free phone" offer.

Signed up for a #mysteryshopper. I used to do this years ago for free food.

Initial assignments offered, deliveries from #FiveGuys. I must be a snob but after surfing the menu within a budget of £20, I was so put off by photos of #burgers I decided to wait for better, not putting that in my body!

Today's bargain, thanks to #toogoodtogo

Pilgrim's Street #CaffeGinevra margherita pizza and two millionaire slices for £3!

Factoid: Supposedly, the pizza was named after Queen Margherita in 1889.

Here's 2 excellent reasons to visit #Morpeth for a day out,

Roast lunch for under £9 in Grade II listed 18th Century #OldBakeHouse

Buildings in continuous habitation as far back as St Mary's 12th Century church!

#valuecheck

OMG, newly opened #IKEA Oxford Street, charged a total £2.85 for #bottomless coffee (fresh brewed) and a bacon roll. 🥓 Best value in London W1?

PS, there's no charge for #OatMilk either. I kept the cup and got a free refill before leaving!

It's finally summer in London, and #cats are taking their chairs to nap on the pavement.

Had a go at aligning the nib of the c. 1958-1960 #Parker51 mark II fountain pen I bought last week for a very acceptable £25.

I used magnifying glasses and a soft plectrum tool to nudge the tine into a better position. The slightly dry writing is much reduced. Probably still needs a good flushing!

Interesting experiment with my new #ultrasound cleaner. This 81 year old half penny highlights that the cleaning works, but you would be daft to use it on antiques where a #patina could be valuable!

Note that the areas where there was a blackened oxidized layer are now shiny. Zero patina!

I've used Ebay for 20 years, but taken aback at the so-called protection of £1.08. Adding to the high #RoyalMail charge of £2.70 to post a small item, I get £9 but the buyer forks out £13.78.

Small & cheap stuff is impossible for #ebay now. I used to sell paperbacks for a couple of quid, forget it.

Nice #reuse and #recycling today. I'm selling off an unused 1996 #Parker Frontier fountain pen and ballpoint set, itself nice reuse.

I'm most pleased with reusing an envelope with thick plastic from an estate agent sign, discarded on a nearby road 😀

Cutting a hole perfectly protects the pen!

Not invisible mending, but I'm grateful I have a collection of bobbins to find a matching chocolate colour cotton to #repair this new top that immediately got snagged!

At least the hole won't get worse! 🤷

Today's #upcycling story.

Admiring this thick dark green #marble slab used on our breakfast table. It was originally a heavy base for a floor lamp thrown out by a neighbour. Once the central bolt was removed the base was easy to wipe clean. Really heavy, like 4kg of genuine marble!

My #Waterman 1980s Forum #fountainpen got a bit clogged again, so I went for it and tried out my new #ultrasonic bath.

Plastic cleaned well and the nib seems fine and cleaner than I can remember.

Considering it had 40 years old dried ink, seems remarkable!

Remarkable that other #ArtificialInteligence tools also lie about this basic question.

#Microsoft #Copilot just gives up and lies by stating 3**19 + 2 is prime when it hasn't proved it.

#Google #Gemini actually gives a decent answer by (apparently) asking #Wolfram Alpha.
February 21, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Tried again with #DeepSeek on finding "near prime" factorization.

Basically, it's lying, badly. 3**n + 2 never divides by 3 for any n.

The problem seems to be that this #AI is unable to say that calculations can be too hard for it to answer.

That's a BIG bug!

Inherited #Parker #FountainPen is all stainless #Flighter45. A desirable vintage model.

New & unused, c. 1975, in packaging, I was to sell, but I have given in to temptation. The medium nib has a lovely ink flow. Other models had a plastic finial, but this English version is all metal.
February 20, 2025 at 10:26 AM
Oops, it is possible for #DeepSeek to get stuck in an infinite self correcting loop!

I asked for factors of 3**27 + 2. DeepSeek found It's not a Prime number but after a guesstimate of 7 as a factor, then showing it isn't one, keeps cycling over failing to find small divisor.

Weird.
February 20, 2025 at 5:24 AM
Damn, the most dangerous thing about #DeepSeek is that answers *look* authoritative.

Asking a basic #numbertheory question that could be checked in thousands of undergrad #maths text books, and it can't correctly find #Mersenne #primes!

Imagine this was your cancer check up!

Claimed half my train journey back again after signal failure. #Lumo is intentionally cheaper and so fully booked, uncomfortably packed.

I was the only person I saw wearing a #facemask despite public health advice on the surge in #influenza #covid and #norovirus. Antimask lunacy.

I'm making "the Feast of St John" day the "wear your Christmas #socks day"

These socks are especially for #geeks, part of the unique #moquette designs for #LondonPublicTransport

Cool! I love them 💗
