I started playing around with toroids recently, and this sculptural vase is one of those experiments. I love himb, but he's definitely a step on the journey of this idea. Cone 10 gas reduction, expect to see more like him as I work through this idea.

Okay,okay, not end of day but end of weekend. I carved them that day but then let clay distract me from my social media duties. Still working on Fire and Earth, mugs this time. I try to group all my black clay pieces into one chunk of a few weeks right before I clean my wheel and studio. #pottery

I raku'ed!!
An altered form raku vase. It is glazed in reduced copper matte glaze on the bottom and a reduced copper glossy glaze on top. A raku fired vase in coppers, golds, and blues. There is a dramatic soot mark on the bottom third of the vase.

Every time I decide to quit this runny drippy mess of a layering glaze the kiln spits out one of these and I take it back. It's a toxic relationship but the highs are so good.

Bluesky #pottery peeps I need your help! I am doing my first #raku firing workshop 8/3. I have to get 10 pieces made and bisqued before then, bonus difficulty points for trying to get restocked for my next show at the same time. What are good forms for novice raku? Tips? Tricks? Pic For Algo.

I have my own studio, but I still am a member of my local community studio. Every so often, someone donates buckets of mystery glaze to the studio. This gorgeous purple was marked "pink", so this was a wonderful kiln surprise.

Where have I been since getting home from Drachenfest? In the studio! I have been head-down in the clay and I will be starting rolling some kilns at the end of this week or the start of next. Next show is Warriors In Bloom near Richmond VA - come touch the pots!

Advancer kiln shelves and a diamond grinding disc saved this mug. I am so fortunate to have loved ones and patrons who helped me get my Advancers. Corderite shelves, even with kiln wash, would have fused with the mug and cracked the bottom.

The rat tracks mug is out!

I had pet rats for around 6 years and they make the best pets. Smart, loving, trainable. Only flaw is that they only live for 2-3 years. This little rat is painted as a hooded rat in honor of one of my girls past.

Headed home from the VA ren faire. This dragon nightlight sold to a couple doing their nursery in a dragon theme. 🥰😭🥰 I love getting to, in a small way, be part of people's intimate and important moments. Art brings us all together.

Second teacup payoff! This gorgeous teaset went home with a Faire patron this weekend, but it will be forever memorialized. Two more teacup reveals left, but they'll have to wait for next weekend when I go back to the fairesite.

Teacup payoff! I made teacups for each of the teapots I made this winter, but the teacup kiln didn't get run until last weekend. This Fire and Earth teapot looks even better accompanied by its teacups in my opinion (I am slightly biased).

It's one of the highlights of my year -- spending a week living the LARP dream as an interplanar potter.
