Small bars. A bar with like 12 seats really forces you to meet new people; if there’s only one other group there you kind of have to say hello. American bars are too big; starting a conversation with someone feels like much more of an imposition if there are 30 other patrons and everyone’s very far.

Lights on seatbelt buckles in taxis! Makes it so much easier to strap in at night when you get into an unfamiliar car. It’s always a bit of a process in an Uber.

Markings on the floor denoting directions of foot traffic. It’s nice to just be directed by the flow of the crowd to where you’re supposed to go.

Greetings from Houston, TX. People who’ve lived here a lot longer than me have never seen this much snow here.

Shimming the old Bruker AC300 NMRs at UW-Madison was so satisfying. I went to a Meow Wolf a few weeks ago and one of the interactive installations included a dial very much like the ones on these—it felt like being back on this guy.

An associate at my fiancée’s big law law firm just emailed all their attorneys in the state asking for help finding a lawyer to settle a dispute with his landlord about a rat infestation. Same guy also authored this.
