My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...
Sex Redefined: The Idea of 2 Sexes Is Overly Simplistic
Biologists now think there is a larger spectrum than just binary female and male

Yup, that's the problem with so many 'balanced' news articles

One of our best security experts sums it up:
Worth stating simply what’s happening. An American government is launching a full-scope political & economic assault on an ally repelling an ongoing invasion to compel them to terminate martial law, topple their president, hand over minerals to America & accept a ceasefire w/out security guarantees.

Witty, articulate, and crystal clear analysis. Read, share, & subscribe.
Have written about JD Vance’s Munich speech. In what may prove to be the biggest week for European security since 1991, it’s time Europe listened to what Trump and his Vice President are telling us. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...
We need to listen to what Trump and Vance are telling us.
This may have been the biggest moment for European security since 1991.

To save Sauchiehall, is it time to halt the doomer narrative that’s come to define the street? And could a phoenix be ready to rise from the ashes?

My piece for @glasgowbell.bsky.social on the state of auld Sauchie Haugh
“Everyone keeps saying this street’s dying — it’s no dying, it’s the best it’s been since Covid.”

Since the 1970s, successive generations have declared Sauciehall Street destroyed. Current prognosis isn't great. But is a phoenix-like revival on the cards?
How to save Sauchiehall
Can a new Culture and Heritage District turn the street’s fortunes around?

Good to know there's a name for this! It can sometimes take me many meetings before I can remember people's names. I am a huge fan of name badges.
Word of the day is a favourite, from old Scots.

To ‘tartle’ is to hesitate while introducing someone because you have completely forgotten their name.

I think that hydrangeas look almost as good in their winter monotones as they do when they are in full colour in the summer. Added bonus of a fringe of frost too, as it was cold in Glasgow this morning.

So here’s the update. The billionaire owner of the Guardian preparing to get rid of a core part of the news org + 100 journalists.
If you’re a Guardian or Observer reader, please share this. The need for a strong, free & independent press couldn’t be greater. Yet, here it is.

I'm not sure how I'm going to use this platform, but I'll probably just post photos.
This was taken on a wee walk through our local park yesterday. Not a bad place to have on our doorstep.
