The film has such a rich diversity of locations. This video mentions them traveling to 13 different cities. Maybe that's the scouting total, but I think that Baktan Cross was a composite of a few places. It cost them to stick to California, but what a great investment!

You really went deeper than anyone on the subject so it's great that you went the extra 40 mins. I think @taylorlorenz.bsky.social and @kattenbarge.bsky.social are on the same wavelength as you here. The Shock Doctrine is even invoked at one point. open.spotify.com/episode/4Ctb...

Surely you bonded over perfectly adapting the desert island disc format to podcasts based on your respective passions.

I'd love to see you collaborate with Naomi Klein under some guise. Her book Doppelganger charts a lot of your interests and you're definitely well politically aligned. I'd love to see her revisit the ideas of the Shock Doctrine and comment on how it plays out almost daily in this era.

The party is still ultimately to blame for not brandishing the power needed to combat billionaires because their neo liberal policies conceded so much power. Hopefully the infighting can find stability soon and there's a strong clear leftist movement by midterms.

Ok, it's pretty depressing to realize the spectrum of influence that one billionaire has, both funding a dark money network and a philanthropic residency. While I think these things function differently, perhaps the article could have taken a less condemning tone.

Why pay influencers €8000 a month to become student dems when you can pay professional journalists, filmmakers and labour leaders to become influencers? That's a €96,000 salary as well as the revenue generated from the content, which plenty of overqualified voices aren't making. They know better.

This is part of the hidden layoffs that aren't included in the "9000 layoffs". How many people lost their jobs due to cancelled Microsoft contracts like this?

I'd recommend playing Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty. I just played it last week and thought of perfect dark having a lot to live up to. I feel like it pulls off a lot from the PD video while also being within an open world RPG. If PD looked like it was missing that mark they might have cut their losses.

The Everwild news stings. The director Greg Mayles worked on 30 games in 35 years and spent the past ten years working on only two games. Now one of those isn't coming out. Also Craig Duncan was promoted from head of Rare to XBGS head after a bad legacy. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sources...

It never occurred to me how tense chasing someone in a game could be when you don't have a gun. Looks great!

This guy did a really good job of recapping every show last year, what ended up coming out and how good the stuff that did turned out. It made me optimistic that the games that have budget for marketing aren't slop, although the fall of E3 has created a bit of a class divide. youtu.be/hkfR4B0jotE

I literally just finished it an hour ago! I had no idea it would turn into a 90hr experience for me. I cleared the journal which is the sign of a well paced RPG. I hope I find the time to dive into Pillars and Deadfire now.

I meant Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, which is bigger than most games.

And of course Alan Wake 2. In 2023 we had AW2, CP2077 and BG 3 out of Europe. All independent AAA studios using proprietary tech. I don't know the mechanics of arts funding, but I'd like to think there's a common EU thread there.
