Absolutely loved this book “Straight Acting: The Hidden Queer Lives of William Shakespeare” by Will Tosh. Combined research with fanciful storytelling and made for a really entertaining read.

Made it safely to Calgary on our whirlwind writing tour. Next up, authors-in-residence at the AWCS annual retreat. Then @abuckleyauthor.bsky.social flies off to one conference, while I stay in Calgary to teach a three-day flash fiction class before the Writers Guild of Alberta conference.

For a lot of folks, it’s Valentine’s Day, but for me and my wife, it’s Brutie’s love day. He was our beloved dog who was with me from puppyhood until almost 15. He died a couple in 2021 but I always celebrate this day that I adopted him in the Virgin Islands in 2006.

Enjoying my first #canlit book of the year. This was incredible! Engaging from start to finish - yes, horror elements but more of a coming home, family drama with such relatable family dynamics. Absolutely wonderful book.

More winter walking with my wife - took a bit of a fall today but only because I climbed up on a snow hill and yelled “I’m king of the world” before falling off and landing on my knees.

Is it a sign how dull my life is that I’m super excited about my new dishes? It’s the first time in our 8 years together that my wife and I actually have dishes we didn’t bring to the relationship. The rest was all pre-meeting thrifted stuff we’d both gathered in our poorer days.

Every year, I try to read at least a couple books from President Obama’s favourites of 2024. Just added a few of these to my library hold list.
