I have no idea how some people manage to post 50+ times a day and keep that up for days/weeks. I don’t think I even have 50 interesting and postable thoughts per day.

joining the "cybertruck owners only" group on fb is one of the best decisions i've ever made. every so often when i'm scrolling through fb getting pissed off, i get to see a little treat like this

Must resist the urge to get a framework desktop now that they're in stock.

It's only like $500 more than the price of 2x64GB DDR5 DIMMs. What a steal.

I should really try CachyOS on my F13 sometime. A performance focused server distro sounds neat. As long as it’s stable though.

Christmas gift to myself: Added a DID allow list to Piper. Kinda felt weird that anyone could log in to it since it's a public instance. Honestly pretty easy to add. Learned a bit of Go along the way too.

finally got piper setup. honestly not too hard of a process, just some undocumented things related to oauth and redirects within the same domain, but that's not a piper problem.

that's certainly one hell of a christmas "gift" to artists who were still on x

i did not expect another mass migration. kinda just expected people to slowly quit x from here on.

Hmm, I wonder if anyone has written a tool for moving Spotify plays from an account export to @teal.fm

The Spotify format was pretty weird last I checked.

Using data from the Jetstream while testing atproto apps shows you some of the most deranged posts in the world. I sometimes consider just randomizing the post text to save myself from the mental hit

it'll be best for everyone when llms stop being the stamp you put on everything to increase investment, and instead just become another tool that engineers have to solve their problems.

most ai doomers wouldn't know that a well-designed feature has an llm behind it unless they were told

Very succinct article and somewhat related. Catering to thin desires is core to app design. Removing as many layers of complexity as possible makes it easier to engage, but the user gets nothing out of it.

Modern design doesn’t want you to learn; it wants you to stay where you are.

The simplification of user interfaces has been a net negative on the average user's desire to learn new concepts. Many users are accustomed to streamlined experiences and won't even try to learn something new.

I wish more apps tried to challenge their users.

The EU bullying apple into adopting USB-C was cool (though weird). I wish they cared similarly about HDMI, where we have a consortium of panel manufacturers refusing to adopt a more open alternative (DP) because they get royalties on HDMI.

working at a large company is all about learning solutions to problems the company created for itself but have no practical application outside of the company.

I sometimes wonder if I’m stunting my growth as a dev by staying at the same place for more than a few years.

Rolled credits on unbeatable last night and played a bunch of arcade mode today.

This game something special. The amount of effort put into this game is absurd. Very few rhythm games have story at all, let alone one that manages to intertwine its soundtrack and story as well as unbeatable does

holy fuck, icdd custom gf tb. hands down the best rhythm game custom, across literally any game I've seen or played.

8 minutes of absolute hell but damn this is peak. I'd play it if I wasn't absolute shit at this game.

gg poland. definitely one of the best matches in recent memory

that tb is bs though. a 6 minute map that plays like a 3 minute map because the second part is impossible. shame with all of the great work that went into the song + art.

us vs australia in losers bracket next week is going to be wild.

Very well written take on LLMs at a transparent company with talented employees. An outlier in multiple regards, unfortunately.
