Put lipstick on a pig, and it’s still a pig. Dress up ABA without calling it ABA, and it’s still ABA.

The dumbest thing you can say is: "it could be worse." The universe takes that as a challenge.

This Christmas, if you spent in your bed. Your rest it’s important, and the universe is happy you got the chance to recharge even if it felt lonely. During this time our bed is our home where you find comfort. 🏡

For all those autistics who find Christmas difficult.

I see you.

While millions are finding ways to pay for insulin I know there’s an insurance worker picking between what fine dining place they’re going to now from denying so many claims.

A common form of trauma that’s often not discussed in many spaces is undiagnosed health challenges. The constant experience of negative emotions that build up over time without a way of releasing or being treated builds up over time and lives in our body.

Do you know that non-speaking autistic children and adults understand the words you say? Yes, so don't talk in their presence like they don't. And don't baby-talk to them or ask stupid questions. It is condescending, demoralising and deeply damaging to their sense of self worth.

I love seeing Blue Sky constantly eliminate the ableism and toxic medical dismissal and harm that many approaches in medicine and therapy have done. I feel more informed than I have been in a long time 🖤

"What is often difficult for able-bodied people to understand is that adjusting to life as a newly disabled person isn’t just a matter of finding the right care...Although those are crucial necessities, becoming disabled is a total identity shift."
I Wanted Someone To Teach Me How To Be Disabled. Turns Out There Are People Out Here Doing Just That.
Becoming disabled is a total identity shift. That intersection between the practical and the existential is where disability doulas come in.
