The PS3 only Motorstorm Pacific Rift is 17 today!
You've no doubt noticed that a lot of the games I post about are from the 360/PS3 era. Back then developers often skipped releasing on PC. Microsoft especially was pretending it didn't exist even though it was their platform. Dark times.

Here's a weird one. Dementium The Ward was released on the Nintendo DS in 2007. Since then it's gotten a variety of ports (3DS, PS4, Switch, PS5) but it was finally announced as coming to PC on October 27th, just 4 days before it's 18th birthday. Hopefully it'll have full pathtracing.

Fable 2 has turned 17! On October 21st 2008 Lionhead released this game on 360 only. It's one of the top 5 remaining Xbox 360 exclusive games for sure.

Also, Every Extend Extra Extreme came out just a day later and is 18 years old today. This is an Xbox Live Arcade game developed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment. They have not revisited the concept since.

As of yesterday, Beautiful Katamari is 18 years old! This one only ever came to Xbox 360 despite being planned for PS3 as well during development. If nothing else, the game runs well under backwards compatibility on every Xbox since.

Happy 16th birthday to Uncharted 2! This landmark release got a 1080p 60fps port to the PS4 as part of The Nathan Drake Collection in 2015. It's a great version of the game but unfortunately it never got a PS4 Pro or PS5 resolution boost. PC emulation is still not quite great yet either.

Also yesterday we had the big 20 year anniversary of Serious Sam 2's release. I remember buying this for PC in box at launch & playing the hell out of it. Amazingly @croteam.com has released a massive modernization update for the game to mark the occasion. Excellent job guys!

Also yesterday we had the big 20 year anniversary of Serious Sam 2's release. I remember buying this for PC in box at launch & playing the hell out of it. Amazingly @croteam.com has released a massive modernization update for the game to mark the occasion. Excellent job guys!
14 years ago (yesterday) FORZA Motorsport 4 released on Xbox 360 never to be seen again. I haven't ever touched any of these games, but this era of FORZA is very well regarded.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS THE IVALICE CHRONICLES now exists on PC after over 27 years. Previously it only existed in it's original PS1 form & The War of the Lions revision on PSP (released in 2007). This is an interesting one because the game had to be rebuilt due to lack of the original source code.

The strange creature that owns the Atari name (for now) has bought the rights to 5 Ubisoft games with the intention to breathe new life into them! All of the games received previous PC releases EXCEPT Child of Eden which they're planning on freeing from the PS3/360 only release tyranny of the era.

The Settlers 1 was released in Germany as an Amiga exclusive on June 30th 1993. It was then released on DOS a year later. In something around 12 subsequent releases, the series never returned to the beloved Amiga.

17 years ago today Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 was released on Xbox 360. It was ported to iOS a few years later but we haven't heard a peep from it since.
