My full Killer Klown shelf at work. So, yes, I have an entire office shelf devoted solely to KKfOS. And it’s glorious.

I love my bestie. Not only is he my brother, and not only did he get me the OOP Larry Fessenden Collection Blu-ray set for my birthday, but also it’s fucking AUTOGRAPHED.

This is the power of film. I have a couple books about cinema lined up to read in the coming weeks, including this one that’s been on my shelf all summer. Ever since seeing Tombstone in the theater when it first came out, and the sublime, haunting performance by Val Kilmer of historical (1/3)

If you’ve seen The Big Lebowski, then you’ve heard some music from this album. From 1969, (per Wiki) the self-titled Moondog reached #6 on Billboard’s classical music chart. Written while Moondog was transitioning from a jazz sound to a classical sound, it’s an awesome, meditative melange. Love it.

From its opening line, this movie unleashes myriad barbaric yawps that spoke to a generation when it came out. And it is not only still very relevant, it is scorchingly and specifically still utterly relevant. Next month will mark its 35th anniversary. Talk hard.

Like any good film nerd, I know that July means 50% off the Criterion Collection, so I snagged Blu-rays of these masterpieces, all of which I’m a longtime fan of:
107 minutes (Withnail and I)
108 minutes (Bound)
109 minutes (Throne of Blood)
110 minutes (Yojimbo)

Often hailed and hated: Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1979 science fiction epic Stalker. I’ve long been a fan of it. I’m rewatching it today as a refresher, since I picked it for this month’s selection for a movie discussion group I’m part of. A visual masterpiece, its backstory is both legendary and tragic.
