The @neunion.bsky.social leadership's "welcome" of Labour's proposal is a slap in the face - many rank and file members are rightly angered and disgusted. This is no way to inspire confidence in the ballot. Schools deserve a militant class struggle leadership!!

A YES vote will put us in a better position to confront the govt, as well as school management, by sending a signal of strength.

Draconian behaviour policies are not the way to tackle behaviour issues. It's a social problem with social roots. Running schools like boot camps can only make it worse. All teachers should take a stand against intro of crazy behaviour policies.

That’s pretty rotten.
No way that three isolated days of strike are going to #saveourcolleges. Teachers struck for more days & we still only got crumbs.
To make #Labour capitulate, the #NEU must embrace the basic principle of striking: ONE OUT, ALL OUT; SPREAD THE STRIKE! No business as usual!

This is not going to be easy: the forces are small & isolated; #Reeves is not going to budge. Here's an alternative strategy to #saveourcolleges:
1. build picket lines that noone crosses
2. mobilise all students
3. spread the strike to the sector; make it a struggle about conditions of all teachers!

Today 32 colleges across the country are going on strike, teachers will be holding a demo outside the DfE at 12 today.
We are asking for equality across education. Why do schools and academised funding get 5.5% but we don't?

Academisation was brought in under Blair's #Labour and today, continues uninterrupted under #Starmer. A real fight against it will take a real struggle against the government. The #NEU must not see in Starmer's paltry pay offer to teachers a "step forward" but prepare for battle against Starmer!

This is one of the clearest expressions of the rot in broken Britain. To #saveourschools & improve outcomes for youth, the #NEU must have an anti-capitalist outlook that will tackle British capitalism, the source of the problem. It must recruit and fight on these pillars, not just on pay alone.
Suspensions and permanent exclusions in 2023-24 have rocketed up by a third compared to the previous year.

A huge step for the fight against racism would be for the union to take a stand against #Prevent, a notoriously anti-Muslim that cripples the pro-Palestine struggle from taking off in schools! The union must defend its members against victimisation under Prevent!
