I hope he succeeds, but the blocker is Keir “I’m going to make Brexit work” Starmer who said “never in his lifetime”. And then what happens if we haven’t lanced the boil of Farage? Do we just leave again?

Somehow I don’t think that renewables come with a nuclear half life of thousands of years for any waste generated. I’m curious as to what waste renewables have though as most of the materials can be reused.

Spain recently ran the entire country for 24hrs on renewables. With the right balance between renewables, battery storage and use of technology such as ‘Vehicle to Grid’ (where EV batteries filter back to the grid) we really don’t need fossil fuels or exceptionally expensive nuclear with its waste.

This country really is giving in to the far right, isn’t it? The trouble is, whatever Labour announces, it will never be enough. They are just playing right into Farage’s hands - and the thing is, Farage doesn’t care one jot about immigrants. They are just a tool to get him what he really wants.

That’s why people have deserted Blue Labour, which seems to have formed a uni-party with the Tories and Deform UK Ltd. It’s little wonder that the Greens are doing so well. Morgan McSwindle and Maurice Glasman have killed Labour.

The Tories, Reform UK Ltd and Labour are now a uni-party. I didn’t agree with Margaret Thatcher much, but how right she was when she said her greatest achievement was Tony Blair - I think we can extend that out to Blue Labour and Starmer now. So glad that the Greens offer a genuine choice.

Completely unnecessary to have any nuclear waste. Perhaps speak to those on the Lincolnshire coast who are campaigning against a waste dump near them. People are selling up, the tourist industry (on which many of them rely) will be damaged.

I suggest you look a bit deeper. Combined with home batteries, there are many who run their homes with solar PV electric without paying bills. Solar farms provide just over 2 gigawatts of electric to the UK grid each year.

I suspect you may be one of those who is a ‘nimby’ when it comes to wind turbines, but is clearly happy to have the problem of nuclear waste disposal. Can we sign you up to stick it in your back garden perhaps? You also miss the point that nuclear is the most costly way of generating electricity.

Just Robbie Gibb to go now?
November 9, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Too right. Labour are only denouncing Brexit to support their tax rises, not to reverse it. They will take no action. Starmer is too besotted by the US and Trump, doing the Tories and Reform’s work for them.

If only one thing, many of the youngsters don’t consume Murdoch’s media and many have turned their backs on the toxicity of Facebook and Twitter, clearly learning from their elder’s mistakes.

The Tories & Reform painted a picture of a land of milk & honey, that we’d have a fantastic NHS etc. Now Deform UK Ltd are gleefully telling us about cuts to everything.

All Leavers should be feeling conned right now, but many still believe Farage & some are just too proud to say they got it wrong.

As is ever the case with the political right, they fight like rats in a sack where there’s money and power involved.
November 7, 2025 at 8:54 AM
This is all talk in preparation for tax rises, nothing more. What it isn’t is a call for action. What Labour are doing is surreptitiously blaming the British public rather than the political classes, a position I thought we’d end up in eventually. Labour remain intent on ‘making Brexit work’.
November 5, 2025 at 4:24 PM
I see from the latest news that they have named the railway worker credited as a hero for saving many lives. I wonder if Farage will be thanking and praising Samir Zitouni?

I think my final sentence read ‘money and privilege doesn’t buy happiness’. I was referring more to his standing in society rather than destitution.
November 2, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Not an unsurprising article from The Spectator. The story here is the dumping of hate and division in the form of Geert Wilders. Let’s hope that this country sees sense and dumps Farage at the earliest opportunity too.

What a fall from grace. I remember when the now Mr Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was feted arriving back from the Falklands in 1982 and then the Andy/Fergie Royal Wedding period.

A man who had everything now has nothing. It just shows that money & privilege doesn’t equal happiness.

‘Tommeh’ is not a hard man. Ask him to join the Army to fight a war and he’d soon be dashing for his Bentley and heading to Ireland with his Irish passport.

Love the ‘it wasn’t done properly’ comment. The vote asked whether you wanted to stay in or leave the EU - we left, end of story. It was black and white, in or out. The only plan presented consisted of 5 words - vote leave, take back control. We left as per the plan presented.
