WOW 😭😭😭😭
I'm super happy that our story is now published!

But what changed compared to the original preprint?

Also, I feel i should post Movie 1 🎥, that inspired the cover. Back when I did the original bluesky thread, movies were not available.

Astrocytic cannabinoid receptor 1 promotes resilience by dampening stress-induced blood–brain barrier alterations - Nature Neuroscience
The mechanisms of neurovascular adaptations underlying stress resilience remain unclear. Here the authors show that the astrocytic endocannabinoid system modulates the blood–brain barrier changes duri...

New publication to start 2025!

We show how activation of integrated stress response increases the numbers of dark #microglia in AD and provide evidence of secretion of toxic lipids by microglia.

Congratulations to Anna Flurry, Pinar Ayata and everyone involved.

Great team effort Tremblay lab!
A neurodegenerative cellular stress response linked to dark microglia and toxic lipid secretion
Flury, Aljayousi, et al. pinpoint a novel microglia phenotype in Alzheimer’s disease characterized by a stress-related signaling pathway. Activating this pathway induces microglia to secrete toxic lipids, which harms brain health. Blocking microglial stress or lipid synthesis in the brain reverses symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.

New publication on Cell Reports! We describe a mechanism by which #microglia degrade amyloid-beta deposits that they can't phagocytose.

Microglia degrade Alzheimer’s amyloid-beta deposits extracellularly via digestive exophagy
How microglia digest Alzheimer’s fibrillar amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques that are too large to be phagocytosed is not well understood. Here, we show that …

I like microglia and I like electron microscopy. Today my new review on microglia ultrastructure came out on Open Biology.

I tried to do a guide I wish I had on my PhD. Thankful for all the people that have taught me microglia EM
