📉 Top GCSEs grade are up slightly this year overall, but some subjects saw higher increases than others.

The % achieving 9-7 increased by 2 percentage points in biology and chemistry and 1 in physics. French and German were also up by 2 pp.

Is it time to give up on (or reform) the EBacc?

We don't expect more than 40% of pupils to enter this year. And, apart from small variations, the proportion of pupils entering the full EBacc hasn't really changed since 2014.

Results day is on Thursday. And we'll be interested to see entry numbers and retention rates for T-Levels.

Retention rates last year were poor: just two thirds of those due to complete T-Levels in 2023 finished the course.
