Friends and Families for Safe Streets
@ffsafestreets.bsky.social
We are people whose loved ones were struck and killed on #TODeadlyStreets, and injured crash survivors. We work to end Road Violence in Toronto and offer monthly Peer Support meetings. More info: www.ffsafestreets.ca + http://linktr.ee/ffsafestreets
The Compassionate Friends supports bereaved parents and grandparents. Today, our hearts are with every parent who has lost a child from road violence or any other cause. Child loss is the worst pain that life can inflict on any human being.

Your children are not forgotten. You are not alone.

Immense gratitude goes out to every parent who joined us and Parents Against Speeding on Oct 20, fighting for kids' safety.

For over a year, our premier has been hell-bent on getting more people hurt and killed in preventable crashes. Now he's targeting kids. 😡

Keep speed safety cameras ON!!

Watch our spox Kendrew Pape bravely share his story of losing his sister, struck in a crosswalk by a reckless speeding driver. If Doug Ford follows through replacing speed cameras with useless signs, more people will die.

Our spox Jess Spieker spoke with @rhiannecampbell.bsky.social of @citynewstoronto.bsky.social about the horrifying crash at Kingston Rd/Lawrence Ave E on Sept 21. With Bill 212, our provincial govt has functionally banned the installation of a lifesaving complete street to prevent hi-speed crashes.

Very embarrassing when our premier reveals his ignorance, saying that we should go back to "big huge signs and big flashing lights." He should know signs don't work. Over 600 people killed in ON in car crashes every year - shouldn't he want to do something effective?!
