Stormbringer, specifically. The robot mode for Brunt was based directly on the Stormbringer design by Don Figueroa.

Somewhat relieved that there's a decent chance that like certain men's magazines, this is just a marketing thing and people who work there make fun of the demographic who takes ot seriously.

I was disappointed, but not surprised that Dr Ian Cutress (former Anandtech editor turned industry consultant*) mocked these sorts of complaints about CES. I guess that's why he gets to interview those tech CEOs.

*the online media-direct-to-industry PR/consultant career pipeline continues

Bone Shaker's Autobot symbol is on his gear stick weapon.

I think this concept would have been more accepted now compared to the early 2010s when potential customers were expecting "Generations-compatible figures Hasbro hadn't made yet" out of 3rd party. It's a neat concept.

RGG in Japan have, to my knowledge, not acknowledge the reaction officially (despite Japanese media picking up the story) and some of the various Japanese devs on Twitter have been passive aggressive about it, threatening to block "annoying people".

At the time, I didn't realise that the way Trailbreaker died in IDW was mirrored in how Megatron would avenge his death later on. In retrospect, that makes the revenge more satisfying.
January 18, 2026 at 1:05 AM
This is likely an attempt to defuse an ongoing controversy. RGG cast a famous Japanese actor who admitted to sexual assault. Fans reacted poorly given the franchise has long preached its views against S/A and harassment.

Sega have otherwise delisted older RGG games.

In another universe, a wiser Megatron would be furious.

(For anyone who doesn't know, Trailbreaker also suffered a similarly brutal death at the hands of Decepticon fanatics in IDW. Megatron would later avenge him by trapping the perpetrators and tearing them to pieces)

Always impressed by how much thought CD Projekt's artists put into the Cyberpunk car designs. Though amusing that apparently the driving mechanics were a late addition to the game.

(I find it alarming that so many people seem to not question the online media reporter going to industry PR/consultant career pipeline.)
January 16, 2026 at 3:48 AM
Anyone closer to the industry/enterprise side is going to be way more favourable to industry rhetoric. Like, Dr Ian Cuttess (industry consultant since leaving Anandtech) last week mocked youtubers for expecting consumer product news out of CES.

(I had to look up Rami Ismail as I hadn't heard about him in years. His feed was strangely silent about Sweeney's support for Grok despite seeming to comment on most other gaming controversies. He must have went *all-in* on EGS)
January 15, 2026 at 9:51 AM
You should contract those youtube shorts editors who make "condensed" pirated tv show episodes for impatient boomers, where all of the body language, facial expressions and beats in acting are edited out, leaving an endless stream of dialogue.
January 14, 2026 at 11:29 PM
I dunno. The animation model can cheat in ways toys can't. A few third party ones attempted to replicate those proportions and it just made things look weird.

(I wish I could find the leaked Japanese patent filings that revealed the original super mode config was as Hasbro depicted it)
January 14, 2026 at 9:30 AM
Rami Ismail (Nuclear Throne), who, amongst many other comments, was very smug about Metro Exodus switching to EGS as Epic simply "out-businessing" Valve.
January 12, 2026 at 5:52 PM
I wonder how that one outspoken indie dev who was *very* "bullish" about his move to EGS is doing now.
January 12, 2026 at 7:42 AM
That was PatStaresAt. The store didn't have a cart (and wouldn't for over a year), so his multiple purchases in quick succession apparently got flagged as potential fraud and his account was locked.

PC gamers are also loyal to Steam because it was seen as the only game in town during a rough period when much of the industry had abandoned the PC as a mainstream gaming platform. Epic's staff in particular seemed to want to troll people over it.

Who gave Valve the monopoly? The industry did.
January 12, 2026 at 7:28 AM
The entire gaming industry (including Epic, very notably) can't complain about a Steam monopoly that they all-but created when they largely abandoned the PC as a gaming platform in the early 2000s.

And if none of them offer the same services as Steam, then why would anyone use other stores/clients?

He was referring to the politicians making the requests to Google and Apple. Silicon Valley's politics are exceptionally malleable towards whatever will be the most advantageous to them. Hence Altman being a Democrat donor, then later sucking up to Trump.
January 11, 2026 at 4:29 AM
This isn't in your usual wheelhouse, but here's Epic Games CEO and bad takes sufferer Tim Sweeney (Fortnite) decrying moves against Twitter/Grok as "censorship".
January 11, 2026 at 1:28 AM
Oh boy, Sweeney got much worse. Defending Twitter/Grok in light the recent scandal against "government censorship".

The flowers represent lives lost, and are placed around the statues of those who ordered it, sanctioned it or dealt the killing blow. Here's Megatron's, which was sobering enough for him to accept whatever fate or punishment was in store for him. Optimus was said to have similar numbers.

I'd argue UK Labour is more like a traditional conservative party since ousting socialist Jeremy Corbyn from leadership, then from the party entirely.
