I would love to, but it's a bit far from PZ. I go to their online events. I'm sure some of my debt & welfare advice colleagues from Stockport will be there.

Ah perchance this has happened to you too? Or on a campaign you worked on? Yes, been there!!

Has this been re-opened? I thought it had been closed? I would love to know as I work in money advice

The ineptitude of the panellists is disturbing. They don't even know that the cap is not on Child Benefit but on Universal credit so their figures are all wrong. The cap relates to £292.81 per month child ELEMENT of UC and not to £26.05 per week child benefit and not one of them had a flippin clue

The beauty of dyslexia! I read that as "Useless water" Which made perfect sense.
Pretty much all water companies are doing this & govt are just letting them get away with it
Then (insult to injury), they take the poorest to court for bills they couldn't afford in the 1st place & then use bailiffs

Yes that's why I'm giving social media another go: I can't keep quiet when the sound of marching jackboots, heralding the rise of the far right, is getting louder all the time. What happened to 'never again'?

The Mary Wallopers are the best on that line up. I might well venture out from Kernow to see them again

I'm not British

We could consider helping people more & killing people less. It would be cheaper
"Oh how naïve" some will say. I accept that this is not clear cut. But I don't accept that we can't aim a bit higher than just more money spent with destruction & death in mind

Its very clear when we look at income vs expenditure & the money spent on utilities is such a high proportion of the UC std allowance. So if you pay for utilities, you cant pay rent top up, council tax, food, travel...or to worksearch. Either the whole cost needs to change or social tariff needed
January 14, 2025 at 3:26 PM
We need asocial tariff for people on benefits and the basic state pension (as it's no longer possible for state pension claimants to get the winter fuel allowance). Plus the WHD needs changing back to the old system (but with more money paid out)

That shouldn't happen after 2 days as there have to be at least 2 reminders before summons & they cant use bailiffs without summons & liability order. So Viv must have had at least 1 previous reminder. The situation is no less awful for all that. Bailiffs should be banned on all but commercial debt

Possibly. I'm afraid your question is rather wide & that without context it would be difficult to answer. If this happened to you, perhaps just chalk it up to experience.

..Its what most of us know, but don't often see articulated on TV. So Mr Peston, if you want to know how the cost of living crisis is really still hitting people, just ask a debt adviser (not me). We do budgets every day & nothing says more about how people are still suffering than those numbers
