they asked some XIV staff to sing it so it would sound "authentic," so when I did a convention panel tier-listing FFXIV music, I ended it by asking everyone to stand up and sing Measure Of His Reach (the Ala Mhigan one) and I swear to god it's truly an emotional ass kicker like that
I think one of the smartest narrative/creative touches in FFXIV Stormblood is: you’re introduced to the Garlean imperial anthem in an early cutscene, and you find out later that it’s a stolen, rewritten song of national pride and worker’s brotherhood from a country they’re fucking occupying.

been taking pictures in coldhearth, and it's such a cool silent detail that the fire in front of raubahn's house never goes out, whether its during the night when the other houses light fire or during the day when the rest are all gone…as if the people there chose to keep his alive
